If you've driven past Suite 105 at 1660 West Lake Houston Parkway lately, you've probably noticed the construction fencing has been up for months. That's the old axe-throwing bar. It opened as Bad Axes, quickly rebranded to Don't Axe, served Southern food and craft cocktails alongside its throwing lanes, and closed in January 2025 after less than a year in business. Now the space is being gutted for something entirely different: a $1 million steakhouse build-out for Table 7 Prime Steakhouse.
For anyone who treats Kings Harbor as the default answer to "where should we eat tonight," this is worth paying attention to, not because a new restaurant is opening, but because of what the timing tells you about how that stretch of waterfront actually works.
What's Moving Into Suite 105
The new tenant is Table 7 Prime Steakhouse, and according to permit filings with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, construction on the roughly 3,600-square-foot space began in April and is scheduled to wrap by the end of October. That puts the opening squarely in the fall window Kings Harbor's own announcements have pointed to all year.
The name behind the kitchen is Thomas Nguyen, a Le Cordon Bleu graduate with more than two decades of experience who has opened multiple restaurants and served as executive chef for several hospitality groups before landing at Table 7. In the release announcing his hire, Nguyen described his approach simply:
"After more than two decades in this industry, I still approach every day as a student of the craft."
The restaurant is backed by Siete Family Enterprises LLC, with Mario Cediel listed as the operator. Cediel also runs Cediel Concession Management, a Houston-based operator with food and beverage locations across the area, including at local airports.
The Detail That Actually Matters Here
Here's the part that gets lost when a new restaurant announcement flies through the local news cycle: this is the second concept this exact space has tried in under two years, and the two concepts couldn't be more different.

Table 7 is making the opposite bet. A steakhouse doesn't need to be the reason you drive to Kings Harbor. It needs to be there when you're already there for something else, whether that's a Saturday concert, a market booth, or just a walk along the water with the kids. That's a fundamentally different relationship with foot traffic, and it lines up with something else happening at the Harbor this fall.
The Calendar Table 7 Is Walking Into
Kings Harbor's Fall Live Music Series is back for the season, confirmed as returning in early September, with the format built around free concerts on the lawn, picnic blankets welcome. In past fall seasons, that same lawn has also hosted a Howl-O-Ween costume contest for dogs and the Kingwood Art Market, an art and woodworking festival, both landing on October Saturdays. Kings Harbor hasn't published this year's exact festival dates as of this writing, but the pattern is consistent: the district books its biggest family draws for the same stretch of fall that Table 7's construction timeline is aiming for.
None of these events need Table 7 to succeed. But Table 7 needs them, or at least benefits enormously from them. A restaurant opening cold in a quiet strip center has to build its own draw from scratch. A restaurant opening into a calendar that already pulls families onto the same lawn for concerts and markets gets a running start it didn't have to pay for.
With Table 7's opening still unconfirmed, the fall calendar offers a way to see how the restaurant fits into Kings Harbor's existing activities.
What This Means for Your Next Trip to the Harbor
If you're mapping out fall weekends from The Groves, here's how the pieces likely fit together based on what's public so far. The permit's construction window runs through October 30, which means an opening announcement, when it comes, will probably land somewhere in that same stretch, not months out. Kings Harbor has not published a specific opening date, so treat "fall" as the operative word rather than a fixed weekend. In the meantime, the Fall Live Music Series gives you a standing reason to be on that lawn regardless of whether Table 7 has opened its doors yet.
If you're already a regular at Zammitti's or Chimichurri's or grabbing a glass at The Tasting Room, this doesn't change your routine. But it does add one more waterfront table to the rotation, backed by a chef with two decades of experience in fine-dining kitchens. Whether Table 7 succeeds over time remains to be seen.
Why This Is Worth Watching, Not Just Reading About
Restaurant turnover at a shopping village isn't unusual anywhere. This change brings a steakhouse to Kings Harbor, where the fall calendar includes concerts and other events. Don't Axe centered on axe throwing; Table 7 will be another restaurant option in the district.
